Installing the Desktop Client in Terminal Services / Citrix Environments
If you are a customer who is using the GlobalSearch Desktop Client and taking advantage of application publishing tools such as Citrix, RemoteApp, or fully published desktop, here’s how to install GlobalSearch in those environments.
Environmental Considerations
The GlobalSearch Installer as of version 6.1 is built to be installable in most user environments, the client itself is installed to the user’s application data for the user running the installation. With the installation existing in the user’s application data folder, it must not be cleared or removed.
Installing to Publish the Application via RemoteApp/Citrix
To install the GlobalSearch Desktop Client in an environment where the application needs to be published to multiple users, do the following:
Run the installation setup, this can be accessed from: http://servername/square9api/desktop_client/release/setup.exe
Create a folder in a public folder, for example:
C:\Applications\
Copy the installation from:
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\GlobalSearchDesktopClient
Copy the installation to:
C:\Applications\
Publish the application to RemoteApp or Citrix, using the path:
C:\Applications\SSInterface.exe
Installing to Publish the Application to Multiple Users Desktops
To install the GlobalSearch Desktop Client in an environment where the application needs to be published to multiple users, do the following:
Run the installation setup, this can be accessed from: http://servername/square9api/desktop_client/release/setup.msi
Following installation, the application will be installed after a user logs into a new machine. It may take a minute or two for the GlobalSearch Desktop Client to be available in the Program Files menu.
