When you are working in your line-of-business application (including web pages), you can quickly reference related documents in GlobalSearch. With Image XChange, you just select a word or phrase from any document, press a hotkey, and run a Search. You decide what to search for, which hotkeys to use, and which Search to activate.

Configure Image XChange Settings
Access the Image XChange Settings from your Windows system tray to configure your extension. You must designate at least one active Image XChange Search before you can use it. You can change other settings as well, but it is not required.

When Image XChange is running, the Image XChange () will appear in your Windows® system tray. This provides useful information, as well as access to the Image XChange Settings. Right-click the icon and choose from the following options:

You do not need to restart the extension after saving changes to your settings, except for those in the Troubleshooting group. Right-click the Image XChange () icon in the system tray and choose Settings.

Input Search Criteria and Run Search – If you wish to open the Searches dialog without Image XChange search criteria populating a field, enable Open Search Window First.
Hotkeys
Image XChange text selection is initiated using a hotkey. Image XChange Searches are initiated by using a hotkey and selecting a word or area of text on your document.
The default Word Capture hotkey is Ctr+Right-click and Area Capture is Ctr+Shift+Right-click. You can customize these on the Hotkeys tab.

Image XChange listens for hotkey input on a system-wide level. As long as Image XChange is running, it will attempt to use the hotkeys you have set. Some other applications, or the system itself, may be using the same hotkeys for their own actions. Make sure that your Image XChange hotkeys are not in conflict, as this may cause interference. |

OCR Engine Source – You can choose the OCR engine on either your local computer (using the GlobalSearch Extensions API) or the GlobalSearch server (using the Square 9 API) when performing OCR requests. By default, Use my computer for OCR requests is enabled, to use the Data Extraction extension on your local computer. Choose this for faster image processing and to place less of the burden on the GlobalSearch server. For it to be enabled, the Data Extraction extension must be installed and GlobalSearch Extensions must be running. If they are not, the OCR requests will use the GlobalSearch server.
